So about 8 hours until I get up for my first half marathon since October. I am anxious and excited. I just got back from my run to Dick's Sporting Goods for Clifbloks and the delightful Jelly Belly Sport Beans. I highly recommend! I figure I will take both my energy supplements with me and load them into the pouch on my water bottle. I also purchased body glide. I haven't used it before, but I remember reading about in the Dawn Dias book. I also remember around mile 11 wishing that I had actually purchased body glide. Apparently, it prevents chaffage and rashes. But with that being said, I tuckered myself out last night and woke up super early this morning so I would be feeling exhausted at about this time.
One piece of advice I learned so far with this race is to try and get to an expo on the first day. I had a slight snafu with the Tricolumbia Assocation. They did not register me, even though I had paid. It wasn't a big deal as far getting it sorted out (thank God for smartphones!), but it would have been more confusing and more overwhelming had I been trying to sort it out amongst the 2,000 or so other women who had registered. Another piece of advice, take a payment confirmation with you as proof that you paid. I was nowhere in the system, even though I had a receipt. Do everything you can to make sure your packet pick up is easy! Another bonus is you get your pick up the merchandise. I got a pretty cool Titanium Girl t-shirt, which I look forward to rocking tomorrow after the race!
So, I am off...
Happy running and I am off to conquer the Iron Girl. Next week, I become a nut made of Titanium!
