Running Products I <3!!!
Everyone has their own preference for running products, and I am no exception. Over the past year and half, I have found a lot of products that I absolutely love and totally endorse. Give them a try and see what you think :-D
Note: A lot of these items you will see me list, you can get from your local sporting goods place. You will see me mention Dick's a lot. It's close by. I am not affiliated with them and I don't get any benefit for mentioning them, it really is the only sporting goods store I have where I live. A word to the wise, if you have a Dick's get a rewards card. They send out coupons monthly and opportunities to accrue bonus points. After a certain number of bonus points, you get a $10 or more rewards certificate. I combine the rewards certificates with athletic apparel or sock discounts and then I am able to save a lot of money on my otherwise very expensive running gear. Plus, the points I spend for that transaction go to the current month's point total. Its a win-win situation!
Got a product you <3, then share below in the comments section. I am always looking for things to make the running experience more enjoyable!
Tough Girl Tutus: Tutus are all the rage with most female racers these days,
especially if it's a women's only race. You can DIY one like I have done and craft your look for an individual race. I still do this, but practically you may want to make a particular tutu part of your running repertoire. Enter the Tough Girl Tutus. For $30, a heck of a deal in my opinion, the tutus come in a variety of sizes instead of the one size fits all that many tutu companies make. I am blessed with hips so I was excited to see that I could get a tutu that would match my size. I ordered a leopard print one and cannot wait for it to arrive. What I love about this tutu is that it has a bib holder attached to it (as pictured). Its a nice touch! I have also read a lot of favorable reviews from others about the Tough Girl Tutus. Many others have raved about the quality and the ease of movement in the tutus.

Compression Capris: I am not a fan of full length pants or the shorty shorts, but I love compression capris. I have a lightweight pair and a heavier pair so that I can wear both during the cooler and warmer months.
Where to find: I like certain types of compression capris better than others. Look online at these retailers or check their stores.
-Under Armour
-Old Navy
-Reebok
-Athleta
Body Glide: If you run any long long long distance, then you need body glide. Between my compression capris and the body glide, there was zero chaffage with my previous half marathons. Save yourself a lot of pain, bite the bullet, and buy the body glide. It goes on your skin and prevents unnecessary rubbing. Its just one more way to prevent pain.
Where to find: I picked mine up from Dick's Sporting goods. If you don't have one near you or your local retailer doesn't carry it, then click here: Body Glide
Clifbloks Energy Supplement: I adore these, they are like gummy bears, but in square shape. Easy to eat on the go and very tasty, it is the perfect energy pick me up when your energy is waning during your races or long distance runs. Plus, it beats the alternative, which is GU.
Where to find: Many of your local sporting goods stores carry them. Normally at race expos/packet pick ups various vendors will sell them with their other energy supplements. Looking for a particular flavor? Then check here: Shot bloks
Thorlo Running Socks: I have bought a lot of running socks. No show socks, socks specifically designed for running by Asics, New Balance, Adidas, and Under Armour. Now they are good socks, but Thorlo has been the best by far. I am picky because I have a weird problem where the sock bunches under the ball of my foot. Thorlo socks are the first socks that don't do this. I always make sure I wear the Thorlos any time I am planning on running 5 or more miles. They have extra padding at the ball of the foot and the heel for added comfort. Well worth the investment.
Where to find: I buy mine from Dick's Sporting Goods. Some of the race expos also have vendors that will sell Thorlo. Sometimes they are cheaper than what you find in the stores. If your retailer does not sell Thorlo then you can order here: Thorlo Running Socks
Sweaty Bands: I have previously done a blog post about trying Sweaty Bands. Let me tell you they are awesome! It is a headband that has a velour/velvet underside and for the first time ever, your headband will stay put. I have tried countless headbands and even though they boast the no slip feature, they still slip. I am such a believer in Sweaty Bands that I have about 15 of them. Some are a little bit dressier and others are just plain awesome looking. My favorite to wear is my run Baltimore headband because I am from Maryland 'Hon!
Where to find: My students have said that they have purchased them from various running store retailers, but you can also get them from expos or order online. I order directly from the website and usually every month they run some sort of deal. In November if you purchased 3 sweatys then you got a Turkey Trot one free and in December they had the 25 days of Sweaty Bands where they featured various favorites at a discounted price. Word to the wise, sign up for their customer rewards because for every $100 spent you get 5 sweaty bucks to spend on even more headbands. If you are a nut about accessorizing like I am then you will be frequenting http://www.sweatybands.com/ just as much as I do.
