I have never been a big fan of New Year's and I don't believe in resolutions because they lack the follow through. However, I have decided to commit to improving myself by running. Note: Not a New Year's Resolution. My initial start date for my full training will begin New Year's Day, but that is only because it serves as a definitive date that I cannot get around.
I am already a runner, or a jogger with aspirations of running at a faster pace, so this declaration is not something out of the realm of possibility. Instead it is a promise to myself to get stronger, faster, and better at a hobby that I already engage in. I have already hit the pavement for over a year now and this past October I completed my first ever half marathon. The time 3 hours 32 minutes and 43 seconds! My next feet is to run a 14 minute mile and complete the Iron Girl Half Marathon and Frederick Half Marathon in 3 hours or less. Followed by soldiering my way through the Warrior Dash obstacle course.
The challenge:
-14 minute mile for by April 1st for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler!
-3 hour or less half marathon time
-Gain upper body strength to not look like a newbie at Warrior Dash
Thankfully I will have my high school friend Amanda with me for most of these strides along the way!
Happy Running!
